The Western Sydney Grand Final Breakfast is set to become a permanent fixture on the NRL calendar after the first event on Wednesday was hailed an enormous success.
Hundreds packed into the Panthers Pavilion for the event, which also acted as a fundraiser for the Luke Priddis Foundation.
While the Grand Final Breakfast has been a traditional part of the rugby league season for many years, it has never been held in western Sydney and Wednesday’s event was considered something of a test run.
The Weekender spotted several NRL officials checking out the event.
Guests included Federal Lindsay MP, David Bradbury, as well as State MPs Tanya Davies and Stuart Ayres.
Mayor Greg Davies and a number of Penrith City Councillors attended, as did NSW Premier, Barry O’Farrell.
In total the morning raised over $20,000 for the Luke Priddis Foundation, which they plan to use in order to continue providing vital services for families living with autism.
“We are so pleased with the turn out and with all the support we received from local businesses in the lead up to the event,” said organiser, Luke Priddis.
“It was great to see so many smiling faces throughout the morning.”
