Penrith is getting a reprieve from wet weather, but warnings remain in place as parts of the Local Government Area are urged to evacuate due to flooding.
Flooded roads are the chief concern at present after days of heavy rain.
Earlier today, a driver had to be rescued from his vehicle after it was swept off the road by floodwaters near the intersection of Luddenham Road and Mamre Road.
Luddenham Road is currently closed.
Yarramundi Bridge is also closed at Agnes Banks, while there’s also localised closures right across the area.
The Eighth Avenue Bridge at Llandilo is closed with motorists warned not to risk driving across it.
The SES expects the Nepean River at Penrith to reach near five metres tonight, with minor flooding.
Residents located in low lying farmland at Agnes Banks are being told to prepare to evacuate due to rising floodwaters. An evacuation centre has been set up at Castle Hill RSL.
Despite heavy rain being predicted for today, it now appears there’s only the chance of a few showers in the Penrith area this afternoon.
It’ll be cloudy but clear of rain the coming days.
