NSW has announced a record 1,431 daily cases of COVID-19 in the community.

95 cases were reported in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, the highest number for some time.

NSW also recorded 12 deaths in the last 24 hours, including a man in his 90s from the Blue Mountains who died at the Hawkesbury Living Aged Care Facility.

Despite the frightening news, Premier Gladys Berejiklian remains positive about the months ahead, with vaccine rates continuing to rise.

“This rolling average we’re having consistently in NSW gives us heartened hope that around the middle of October we will see 70 per cent of our population fully vaccinated,” she said.

As of today, exercise is no longer limited to one hour in the local government areas of concern. The curfew will still apply, but exercise is unlimited outside of those hours.
