A new case of COVID-19 in Emu Plains is causing concern for health officials, prompting calls for more testing in the suburb.

One of 65 new cases of COVID-19 in the community today is from the suburb, and is currently not linked to any other case or cluster.

“The case is unlinked and under investigation,” said NSW Chief Health Officer, Kerry Chant.

“There was also a previous case in Emu Plains in the last week that was also unlinked, so this is a concern to us.

“We’re asking anyone in Emu Plains to get tested even for the most minor of symptoms.”

Both cases had visited the Lennox Village Shopping Centre in Emu Plains.

Anyone at the shopping centre on Saturday, July 10 from 3.45pm to 5pm is considered a casual contact and needs to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.

Anyone who attended Woolworths specifically between 4pm and 4.45pm is a close contact and must get tested and isolate regardless of the result.

The Weekender understands there may be further local venue alerts issued later today.
