NSW Health have confirmed that a student from Blackwell Public School in St Clair has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Department of Education has been advised that the student was not infectious while at school.

A statement has been released by Blackwell Public School Principal Kris Hudswell, ensuring parents and caregivers that they are acting accordingly to the advice given by NSW Health.

“In this case there is no action required, it is a personal matter for those involved and they will be supported directly by NSW Health,” she said.

“I am sure you join me in wishing the student a quick recovery.

“The Department has been advised by NSW Health that any people assessed as being a ‘close contact’ of the student concerned will be contacted by NSW Health directly and given appropriate advice.

“NSW Health have processes in place to determine those who are a close contact.”

The news comes after Prime Minister Scott Morrison again reiterated the importance of school doors remaining open in a press conference last night.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejilian has advised parents to keep their children home if they are able.
