A woman has been charged after allegedly drink-driving with two children in the car at Kingswood.

About 11.35am today, police were called to O’Connell Street, after a member of the public was concerned about a woman allegedly driving a Volkswagen Golf in a dangerous manner.

Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and spoke with the driver, a 31-year-old woman.

“Police will allege while attempting to conduct a roadside breath test, she struck the officer’s arm,” a Police spokesperson said.

“Subsequently, she was arrested and taken to Penrith Police Station where she underwent a breath analysis and returned an alleged reading of 0.308.”

Two passengers of the vehicle, aged four and six, were conveyed to Penrith Police Station before being picked up by a family member.

She was charged with high-range PCA and assault police officer in the execution of their duty. Her licence was suspended.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Penrith Local Court on Tuesday.

A notification was made to Family and Community Services (FACS).

Note: An earlier version of this story stated that the woman was refused bail. Police have corrected their initial report to confirm the woman was granted conditional bail.
