Suspicious fire destroys cars

Police are investigating after four vehicles were destroyed by fire at a unit block at Penrith this morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the fire in Derby Street following multiple calls to Triple Zero (000) shortly before 3.30am today (Saturday, October 31).

Residents of the three-storey unit block were evacuated but firefighters from Fire & Rescue NSW were able to prevent the blaze from spreading. No injuries have been reported.

An investigation is now underway into the cause of the fire.

Investigators from Penrith Local Area Command are treating the fire as suspicious and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
