Work has started on The Northern Road at South Penrith to replace sections of the road surface to improve safety.
Works are being carried out at night over the next month, between Sundays and Friday.
“The NSW Government provided $1 million to replace the road surface on The Northern Road from the M4 to Maxwell Street at South Penrith,” said Penrith State MP, Stuart Ayres.
Partial lane closures will be in place to ensure a safe work space, between 8pm and 5am.
Electronic signs and traffic controllers will in place to direct traffic and help residents access their properties.
Local residents and business operators have been informed of changed traffic conditions by letter.
Every effort will be made to minimise noise associated with the work.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution, follow all signs, including reduced speed limits and allow extra travel time.
“The work aims to provide a more durable road surface and reduce future maintenance costs,” Mr Ayres said.
