Construction of a brand new oil blending facility at St Marys, which is set to create 25 permanent jobs for the area, is well underway.

Successful Penrith-based lubricant manufacturer Gulf Western Oil is currently building the new $10 million plant at the Dunheved Industrial Estate.

The 5,500m2 facility will have a manufacturing capacity of 60,000,000 litres per annum and will provide more than double the warehousing capabilities currently held at their Coombes Drive, Penrith, premises.

“We have our plant design complete, our 32 brand new stainless steel storage tanks are complete and delivery of them will be completed by early February,” co-managing director of Gulf Western Oil, Ben Vicary said.

“Currently we are close to our manufacturing capacity and we have out grown our warehousing capacity a few years ago.”

Gulf Western Oil is the largest Australian owned manufacturer of lubricants. Their manufacturing capacity is currently devoted to supporting the Gulf Western brand of products that are sold throughout Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Rim.

Member for Londonderry, Bart Bassett, inspected the construction site last week, and welcomed the investment.

“The investment that will create 25 permanent local jobs and an additional 10 part-time positions demonstrates confidence in the NSW Government’s management of the state’s economy,” Mr Bassett said.

“The decision by Gulf Western Oil to invest $10 million to build the new blending facility at Dunheved Industrial Estate is great news for the local economy and will deliver more jobs and infrastructure.”

Gulf Western Oil is hoping to be operational and producing lubricants in their new facility by October this year.
