A man will appear before court today charged with allegedly graffitiing multiple Nazi swastikas and attempting to assault a police officer in Penrith.
About 3pm yesterday, police were called to a unit block on Derby Street, Penrith, following report of offensive graffiti.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command arrived and located several Nazi swastikas and offensive phrases graffitied on footpaths, fences and car spaces near the unit block.
Following initial inquiries, police arrested a 51-year-old man in the unit block before taking him to Penrith Police Station.
While at the station the man allegedly attempted to assault an officer multiple times before being restrained.
The man was charged with knowingly display by public act Nazi symbol without excuse and assault police officer in execution of duty cause actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.
