Man critical after stabbing, woman arrested

A man is in hospital after a stabbing in Penrith this morning.

About 1.15am today, emergency services were called to a granny flat on Stafford Street, Penrith, following reports of a stabbing.

On arrival, officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command located a 47-year-old man with stab wounds.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man before he was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

A short time later, police arrested a 29-year-old woman on Woodriff Street, Penrith.

She has been taken to Nepean Hospital under police guard for assessment.

The man and woman are believed to be known to each other.

Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
