Six candidates have now been locked in to contest Lindsay at next month’s Federal Election.

There’s only a few days left for nominations to be submitted.

The key battle is between sitting Liberal MP Melissa McIntosh, who holds Lindsay by 6.1 per cent, and Labor candidate Hollie McLean, a Penrith City Councillor.

Lindsay is expected to play a prominent role in the campaign this week given both Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton will be in western Sydney for a Sky News-hosted debate on Tuesday night.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if both leaders visited Lindsay and made local announcements.

The Greens have now confirmed they will field a candidate in Lindsay in the shape of Aaron McAllister, while Michelle Palmer from the HEART Party has also been locked in for the election.

Independent Jim Saleam previously announced his candidacy, while One Nation is fielding Chris Buckley as its candidate.

One Nation has raised concerns this week over the defacing of election posters.

According to Matthew Jacobson, who is the One Nation candidate in Macquarie, numerous campaign posters have been stolen or defaced with offensive symbols, including swastikas and other Nazi imagery.

Additionally, there have been instances of threatening emails and personal attacks on social media platforms.

“These actions are not just attacks on me as a candidate but are affronts to the democratic process and the values we uphold as a community,” Jacobson said.

“I urge all political supporters and opponents to engage in respectful and constructive discourse. Resorting to vandalism and intimidation undermines the very principles of democracy.”
