There is chaos on the Sydney Trains network this morning, with commuters being urged to delay travel or consider using other transport.
Unions are essentially holding the city to ransom with fresh industrial action resulting in cancellations and delays across the network.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union has lost plenty of public support and sympathy during their ongoing dispute with the State Government and today’s action will not help to ease that.
The State Government has put a fresh four-year pay offer on the table to the union, comprising of a 13 per cent pay increase.
“It is above inflation and represents a real increase to take-home pay for rail workers,” Transport Minister Jo Haylen said.
Rail, Tram and Bus Union Secretary Toby Warnes said it was unlikely the offer would be accepted.
Dozens of services on the Western Line have been cancelled this morning, essentially leaving western Sydney workers needing to get further east or into the city with few options to get to work.
