Commuters are facing another difficult morning on the rail network, with dozens of cancellations and delays.

And to make matters worse, it’s a challenging morning on the roads – making the journey to work from western Sydney an almost impossible mission.

The spat between the State Government and unions over pay and conditions continues to escalate with commuters facing enormous delays on the trains.

Sydney Trains is advising commuters to delay non-essential travel.

“You may need to change services and there may be increased crowding,” a statement said.

“Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink apologise to our passengers for the disruption, and thank commuters for their understanding as staff work to minimise the impacts of this industrial action.”

To add to the delays, trains between Mulgrave and Richmond in both directions aren’t running due to urgent train repairs at Clarendon.

Yesterday, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union said it would not be accepting a fresh pay offer on the table from the State Government.

“The government has continuously moved the goal posts during the negotiating process – from taking previously agreed to claims off the table, to making an offer that is no more than the wage cap in disguise,” it said.

Transport Minister Jo Haylen said the situation was “intolerable”.

“The Sydney Trains and NSW Trains workforce [must] accept the fair and reasonable offer that is on the table from the NSW Government,” she said.

“This is a result of the unions’ actions. Passengers are unfortunately paying the price here for the unions’ actions. That is not fair.”
