Murder charges laid over woman’s death at Pullman Hotel in Penrith

Police have charged a man with the murder of his girlfriend after her body was found in a Penrith hotel room on Sunday.

53-year-old Darren John Berry has been charged with one count of murder.

Police will allege he killed his girlfriend, Shirley So, inside the Pullman Hotel on Sunday afternoon.

Berry was found covered in blood and with cuts in the same hotel room.

Berry, who fought under the name ‘Hacksaw’ during his kickboxing career, fronted court via a bedside hearing from Westmead Hospital today.

He is due to appear at Penrith Local Court tomorrow, also expected to be via video link.
