Fox League commentator Andrew Voss has floated a potential solution to a looming headache surrounding the World Club Challenge.

Penrith’s 14-6 win over Melbourne on Sunday in the Grand Final means they have the right to play the UK Super League champions in the World Club Challenge early next year.

But with the Panthers opening the season in Las Vegas in 2025, they have no appetite to add a second international trip to their itinerary.

Wigan and Hull KR play each other in the UK Super League Grand Final this weekend and if the Warriors win, they too face the travel headache as they’re heading to Vegas as part of the league extravaganza in sin city.

At this point it appears the only thing that will save the World Club Challenge is if Hull KR win the Super League and travel to Sydney in mid-February to play the Panthers.

But Fox League and SEN broadcaster Andrew Voss has another solution.

Vossy has floated the prospect of Penrith being given the bye at Magic Round next year, opening the door for the World Club Challenge to be played in Brisbane as part of the festival of footy.

It would add an extra game to Penrith’s workload but would give Magic Round an enormous boost.

There’s no suggestion anyone is considering it – but would you give it the green light?
