Knives and baseball bats have been seized by Police after a brawl left a man in hospital with serious head injuries.

Police say the brawl at Colyton late last night was extremely violent.

“The injuries suffered to the primary victim is in one of the worst categories of assault I’ve seen in a long time,” said Detective Inspector Steve Peroni from Nepean Police Area Command.

About 11.15pm yesterday, emergency services were called to Carpenter Street where they found a 20-year-old man with serious head injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

The man’s three friends were also assaulted and are receiving hospital treatment.

“The nature of the head injuries and injuries received by the other victims indicates the use of either edged weapons or blunt forced weapons, possibly both,” Peroni said.

Police have been told the injured men were confronted by a group while walking along Carpenter Street.

Officers are now searching for the men involved. They were spotted bagging evidence on Sunday including knives and baseball bats.

Peroni said Police were investigating “multiple lines of enquiry”.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Nepean Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
