Mulgoa Road is closed in both directions at Glenmore Park following a serious truck crash this morning.
The driver of the semi trailer was initially trapped in the wreckage but has since been rescued. He is shaken but otherwise unhurt.
It’s understood more than two dozen cows were on the truck involved in the crash. Witnesses have reported a number of deceased cows are on the road.
The accident is past the Glenmore Parkway round-a-bout, heading towards Wallacia and Mulgoa.
Fire crews have confirmed that a number of cattle involved in the crash are being held at a nearby paddock with the help of an adjoining land owner.
Other cows are trapped inside the wreckage and emergency service workers are desperately trying to free them. A number have been humanely euthanised following consultation with the RSPCA.
Crews expect the road to be closed for much of the day with the operation to rescue the cattle and remove the truck, which has rolled onto its side, expected to be long and difficult.
