Man charged after firearm seized in Kingswood

A man will appear in court today charged after a firearm and prohibited drugs were seized following a vehicle stop in Kingswood yesterday.

About 10.45pm yesterday, Thursday, November 4, officers from Nepean Police Area Command were proactively patrolling the Kingswood area when they stopped a Mazda on Second Avenue.

Subsequent checks revealed the driver and sole occupant – a 24-year-old man – had a suspended driver’s licence and was subject to a Firearms and Weapons Prohibition Order.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized cocaine and a revolver firearm, which will undergo further examination.

The man was arrested and taken to St Marys Police Station, where he was charged with drive whilst suspended, possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, possess unauthorised firearm, acquire pistol subject to FPO and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear before Penrith Local Court today, Friday, November 5.
