Two more people have died at Nepean Hospital while 54 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District overnight.
The new deaths are both men in their 70s.
It comes as Premier Gladys Berejiklian lists St Marys as a suburb of major concern, with cases continuing to grow in the area.
NSW recorded 633 new locally acquired cases to 8pm last night – a pandemic record for the state.
Ms Berejiklian again encouraged people to get vaccinated.
“Vaccines are critical in not only dealing with this outbreak but maintaining the safety of our citizens moving forward,” she said.
NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant issued a stark warning for the coming days.
“We will see more admissions and more deaths if these numbers continue to increase,” she said.
“We have a collective responsibility to do all we can to stop those deaths and hospitalisations.”
