Fourth death recorded in Nepean outbreak; weddings back with five guests

A woman in her 70s has become the fourth person to die after acquiring COVID-19 inside Nepean Hospital.

She was diagnosed with the virus earlier this month and passed away in the last 24 hours.

“She’d received two doses of COVID vaccine and also had some serious underlying diseases,” said Dr Jeremy McAnulty from NSW Health.

It comes has NSW recorded 1,035 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

78 new cases were reported in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Brad Hazzard has confirmed that weddings will again be permitted in New South Wales from September 3, but with only five guests allowed to attend.
