A man has been arrested following a police operation in South Penrith.
About 11am today, officers were called to Smith Street, South Penrith, following reports in relation to the concern for the welfare of a woman.
On arrival, police spoke with the 22-year-old woman, who indicated she had been injured during an altercation with a man at a nearby property.
She was taken to Nepean Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
As a result of further information received, additional police – including the Public Order and Riot Squad responded – attended a home on Gamenya Avenue, South Penrith, about 2.30pm.
A short time later, entry was forced to the property and a 34-year-old man was arrested.
He has been taken to Penrith Police Station, where he is assisting with inquiries.
Three further men and a woman were detained at the property for a short period while police cleared the home.
One of the men, aged 26, was allegedly found in possession of prohibited drugs but has been taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
