The Major Oak Theatre Restaurant will close its doors at the end of December after 40 years in St Marys.

It is the last remaining theatre restaurant in Sydney.

“With incredible sadness we announce, due to COVID restrictions, we will close our doors at the end of December 2020,” the venue said in a statement.

“We survived RBT, FBT, GST, GFC, RSA & PC Police… but the 2020 COVID Pandemic has been more than our business can handle.”

Owners Bobby and Mary Bradford said restrictions on capacity as well as high rents and additional staff costs meant it was not viable to return in 2021.
