Police are re-appealing for information as they investigate three suspicious fires in December.

Strike Force Myler has been formed as police investigate a number of suspicious bushfires within the Castlereagh and Londonderry areas from December 2019.

About 2.35pm on Tuesday, December 3, emergency services were called to Firetrail and Smeeton Roads in Castlereagh following reports of two separate bush fires.

Numerous NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded and began to extinguish the blaze.

About 3.10pm, a third bush fire was reported on Wilshire Road, Londonderry.

After several hours, all fires were extinguished, burning approximately 40 hectares of bushland.

Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation into the cause of the fires.

Following inquiries, the fires were deemed to be suspicious and police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify a vehicle which was observed in the area.

The vehicle is described as a maroon 2002 Toyota Rav 4, with yellow and black New South Wales registration plates.

This vehicle was seen travelling in areas surrounding all three fires prior to and after their ignition.

Police will hold a media conference at 10am to reveal more details.
