Emergency crews have brought a grass fire at Llandilo under control.

The eight hectare blaze flared up on Fourth Avenue at around 2pm this afternoon and a Watch and Act alert was put in place by the Rural Fire Service.

But crews gained the upper hand quickly and the blaze has now been all but extinguished.

It was Sydney’s first serious taste of the bushfire crisis currently gripping the state, with almost a dozen fires currently burning at Emergency Level.
