Winds cause havoc across Penrith

Heavy winds are causing havoc across the local area with trees and fences down.

A tree is down on the M4 Motorway’s Russell Street off-ramp, while another has come down on Clouta Drive, Emu Plains.

A tree is also down on William Howell Drive in Glenmore Park, with a temporary fence also falling victim to the windy conditions.

Silverdale Road is partly closed at Silverdale due to a tree and power lines down.

Crews are also working to repair a loose fence in Penrith near Panthers on Mulgoa Road.

Meanwhile, Endeavour Energy says around 1000 homes are without power in the Penrith and South Penrith area, with estimated restoration times of 4.30pm.

The busy intersection of Evan Street and Jamison Road in South Penrith is currently running without traffic lights.

Windy conditions are expected to stick around for much of the afternoon but it’ll be a much calmer day tomorrow with a top of 19 degrees in Penrith.
