Fifth car park attacker faces court

A fifth participant in the Panthers McDonald’s car park attack that left a man fighting for life has been identified.

Dean Hooper, 22, of Glenmore Park appeared before Penrith Local Court today charged with ‘affray’.

Police allege Hooper threatened unlawful violence against Shannon Rushworth and Tyson Gampe in the early hours of February 3, when he and four co-accused allegedly became involved in a violent altercation.

Rushworth was knocked unconscious and suffered bleeding to the brain.

Hooper’s matter was stood over to marry up with his two co-accused, Wendell Milgate, 20, and Byron Donovan, 19, who remain in custody bailed refused.

The adjournment will also give the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) time to determine whether they will elect to have the matter heard in the District Court.

The two other co-accused, who were granted strict conditional liberty on February 7, also fronted court today.

Blake and Mitchell Milgate, 22 and 19, had their matters adjourned to the same day for the same purpose.

All five men will face Penrith Local Court again on April 5.
