A person has died after being struck by a train at St Marys this afternoon.

Police, paramedics and fire rescue responded to St Marys railway station just before 3pm after reports that a person had been struck by a train.

All services were quickly on scene and located the body of a person on the tracks.

Paramedics assessed the person and found them to be deceased.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the person’s death.

It is not known at this stage if the death is self-harm related but police are investigating it as a possibility.

Sydney Trains has advised that there’s ongoing delays due to the accident.

“Passengers are advised to allow additional travel time on the T1 Western Line in both directions due to a fatality at St Marys,” a spokesperson said.

“Buses are now replacing trains between Mount Druitt, St Marys and Werrington. Passengers should also listen to announcements and check indicator boards.”
