Early election on the cards

Australia may go to to an early election on July 2, while it’s been confirmed that the Budget will be delivered earlier than planned on May 3.

A double dissolution election will be held in July unless the senate passes the Australian Building and Construction Commission and Registered Organisations Bills during special sitting weeks of Parliament which will begin on April 18.

“The time for playing games is over,” Mr Turnbull said earlier today.

“Today, I called upon His Excellency the Governor-General to advise him to recall both Houses of Parliament on April 18, to consider and pass the Australian Building and Construction Commission Bills and the Registered Organisations Bill, and he has made a proclamation to that effect.”

Mr Turnbull declared that the Senate had been increasingly unworkable.

Lindsay will be a major battleground for this year’s election with sitting MP Fiona Scott taking on Labor’s Emma Husar.
