A man is due to appear in court on Friday after he allegedly assaulted a police officer.

At about 1.15am on Friday, August 14, it is alleged a man attended St Marys Police Station in a taxi before becoming involved in a dispute with the driver.

Officers came out and spoke to the man as the taxi left the area and issued a direction for the man to leave the premises.

It is alleged he refused to leave and remained in the area for a short time before he allegedly attemped to damage a nearby parked vehicle by punching the windows.

He was restrained and, after a short struggle, was placed under arrest.

The 22-year-old was later charged with a number of offences.
