A man has been charged over alleged drug and weapon offences following a vehicle stop in Werrington last week.
About 6.30pm on Friday, March 27 officers attached to Operation Countdown stopped a vehicle on the Great Western Highway regarding traffic matters.
Operation Countdown is a North West Metropolitan Region operation targeting property-related crime.
During a subsequent inspection of the vehicle police located a mobile phone that allegedly contained cocaine and a cutting agent.
Officers also uncovered further drug paraphernalia, a modified firearm, ammunition and a flick knife.
All items were seized after the search and have undergone further forensic examination.
The 38-year-old male driver was taken to St Marys Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited drug and custody of a knife in a public place.
He was granted bail to appear before Penrith Local Court on Wednesday 23 April 2015.
Inquiries into the matter are continuing.
