Council switches on to new lights

Night time training and exercise at Jamison Park will become a whole lot easier with brand new lights and a lighting control system to be installed.

New lights are going to be installed at fields one through to four, along with a new substation to support the lighting.

In following stages, lighting will be provided at the remaining fields and athletics track.

“Sportsground users at Jamison Park will now benefit from the floodlight upgrades as part of Council’s wider program of renewing assets across the City,” Penrith Mayor, Ross Fowler said.

A highlight of the new lighting system will be its ability to be controlled by local clubs.

“The new floodlighting uses technology that allows clubs to use SMS from anywhere to turn the lights on or off,” Cr Fowler explained.

By moving to an SMS system, energy usage can be monitored and reduced.

“The lighting is one of the many things that we are doing on our facilities across the city and at Jamison Park,” Cr Fowler said this week.
