A man has been charged over the alleged knife-point robbery of a woman on a train earlier this month.

The 21-year-old Penrith woman was on a train travelling west abut 9.45pm on January 7 when a man allegedly threatened her with a knife before taking her backpack, wallet, and mobile phone.

An investigation was initiated and today officers from Operation Countdown arrested a 19-year-old man at Doonside. He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with two counts of robbery while armed.

He was refused bail and will appear in Blacktown Local Court tomorrow.

Police will allege the second charge relates to a robbery at Cambridge Park on January 6.
