More charges laid against man

A former teacher has faced Penrith Local Court having been charged with two additional offences relating to alleged historical child sexual assault offences dating back more than 25 years.

Strike Force Avia was established by the Sex Crimes Squad in October 2011 to investigate incidents alleged to have occurred on school grounds at a Catholic college at Blacktown and a Catholic primary school at Lalor Park in the 1980’s.

Officers attached to Strike Force Avia arrested the 58-year-old man, along with a 59-year-old former Catholic Brother, in November 2012.

The former teacher faced Penrith Local Court charged with sexual assault (child under 16); indecent assault (child under 16); commit indecent act (child under 16 years); and indecent assault (child under 16 and under authority).

These charges relate to a 13-year-old boy in 1987 and an eight-year-old girl in 1985.

During his court appearance this week, the man was additionally charged in relation to alleged assaults against a nine-year-old girl in 1986 and an 11-year-old girl in 1990.

He remains on conditional bail to reappear at Penrith Local Court on a future date.

Strike Force Avia is ongoing and detectives urge anyone with information to assist them to come forward.
