Penrith's population rises

Penrith’s population has risen to 178,472, according to the latest Census data released today.

That’s up from 172,102 in 2006 and is particularly impressive given our populaton decreased from the 2001 to 2006 Census.

The Penrith LGA is made up of 87,940 males and 90,532 females.

The data shows Penrith’s median age is now 34, up from 32 in 2006 and 30 in 2001, indicating an ageing population in the region.

The median total personal income per week for an individual is $620, up from $515 in 2006. Total household income sits at $1,396.
