Luke Lewis has suffered a dramatic injury during Penrith’s final training run ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Melbourne and may miss the clash.
The Weekender understands that the Panthers skipper will undergo a late fitness test tomorrow afternoon to determine if he’ll face the competition leaders.
It would be a huge blow for Penrith, already suffering from a huge injury crisis that sees Michael Gordon, Nigel Plum, Luke Walsh and Nathan Smith all sidelined.
Panthers General Manager, Phil Gould, confirmed that there was an incident involving Lewis at training.
“Injured himself at training today apparently,” he Tweeted.
“Medical tomorrow afternoon… that’s all I know.”
Meanwhile, it’s expected Penrith will significantly re-shuffle the side they named on Tuesday ahead of tomorrow night’s game.
David Simmons and Brad Tighe are set to be dropped, with Josh Mansour and Etu Uasaile to be promoted to the top grade.
