Gordon suffers broken leg

Penrith could be without Michael Gordon for a big chunk of the 2012 season after he suffered a suspected broken leg in Penrith's 22-14 loss to Canterbury at Centrebet Stadium.

It was a match that Penrith was seemingly in control of, but a series of horror events – including Gordon's injury – led to Penrith with just one player on the bench at the back end of the game.

Gordon was taken to hospital after leaving the field mid-way through the first half.

Also on the injured list are Blake Austin, who also limped from the field, and David Simmons, who was flattened by Frank Pritchard 12 minutes from full-time and had to be assisted from the field.

The Panthers led 12-0 early thanks to tries from Travis Burns and Michael Jennings, but the Bulldogs hit back after Gordon went off, narrowing the score to 12-6 at half-time.

The game was level when Ben Barba – last year's leading try scorer – crossed just six minutes into the second half.

Penrith edged ahead again when Luke Walsh added a penalty goal, but the Bulldogs scored two late tries to finish over the top of the Panthers.
