The Western Sydney Academy of Sport has continued to foster the amazing softball talent in the region with 26 athletes recently inducted in the 2011/12 Softball Squad.

Legendary coach, John Neilsen, will return to lead the Academy’s program as Head Coach.

Of the Academy athletes, 10 have been selected into NSW teams this year including three Penrith teens – Shaylong Elson, Jack Noble and Michael Robar – who were all selected in the NSW U17 men’s team.

“The Academy’s athletes represent the best young pre-elite sports people throughout western Sydney and we are proud to highlight their outstanding achievements and exceptional talent,” said Academy CEO, Martin Bullock.

These athletes, along with many other talented juniors are scholarship holders in the Academy’s athlete development program, which provides opportunities to combine specialised skills training, video analysis and competition opportunities with education components like sports nutrition and drug education.

The Academy program is endorsed and strongly supported by Softball NSW.
