Off-duty police officer charged with assault

An off-duty police officer has been charged with assault following an incident in Penrith earlier this week.

About 10.45am on Tuesday, the senior constable allegedly assaulted a woman at her workplace in Penrith.

The woman was treated for bruising and soft-tissue damage.

The officer, who is attached to a specialist command, was arrested at Penrith Police Station later in the week.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault, and granted conditional bail to appear in Penrith Local Court on August 12.
