The Penrith Panthers will pay tribute to their beloved home ground by re-naming the venue Penrith Park – its traditional name – for its Round 27 match against Gold Coast.
The September 7 clash will be the last home game at BlueBet Stadium before major redevelopment of the venue. Venues NSW will manage the future Penrith Stadium.
It’s possible the Panthers will play a home Final at BlueBet Stadium a week after the final regular season game but it would be an NRL controlled match.
The decision to use the Penrith Park name for the clash against the Titans has been backed by BlueBet.
“BlueBet appreciates the history synonymous with BlueBet Stadium since the team’s inception into the NSWRL in 1967,” BlueBet CEO Bill Richmond said.
“We’re proud to give fans another opportunity to create lifelong memories at Penrith Park one more time.”
The Panthers will also wear a heritage jersey for the match, paying tribute to the 1967 team.
The jersey pays homage to that worn in 1967, the club’s inaugural season in the NSWRL, with the club’s foundation logo also featured on the sleeves of the jersey.
