Penrith Basketball junior Josh Green will compete for his first-ever NBA Championship next week after his Dallas Mavericks crushed the Minnesota Timberwolves this afternoon to advance to the NBA Finals.
Green and his Mavericks teammates will face-off against the Boston Celtics when Game 1 tips off in Boston next Friday morning.
The Mavericks qualified for their first NBA Finals since 2011 after defeating the Timberwolves 124-103 in Minneapolis on Friday.
Luka Doncic led the way for the Mavericks, racking up 36 points while his running mate Kyrie Irving stacked on 36 points himself in the monster win. Green played 18 minutes off the bench in Game 5, recording 2 points, 2 steals and 1 assist.
23-year-old Green has been playing in the NBA for the past four seasons after he was drafted by the Mavericks in the 2020 NBA Draft.
In 2021, he won a Bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics with the Boomers, while he’s also expected to suit up for Australia this July in Paris.
After leaving the Hills Hornets, Green spent his early teenage years playing for the Penrith Panthers in their representative junior teams before moving to the US to play in their prestigious high school and college system.
Now a key member off Dallas’ bench, Green is averaging 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game this season.
Dallas’ opponents, Boston, swept the Indiana Pacers 4-0 on their way to their second NBA Finals in three years.
