A man is due in court today after police seized a firearm, ammunition, knives and cable ties during a vehicle stop late yesterday.
Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command were called to a property on Kavieng Avenue, Whalan after 7pm, due to concerns for the wellbeing of a 31-year-old woman over an alleged domestic violence incident.
Following inquiries, a 33-year-old man was arrested in a vehicle on Northern Road, Orchard Hills, about 7.45pm.
Mt Druitt Police – assisted by officers attached to Operation Puma, Strike Force Raptor, Nepean PAC, and Police Transport Command – searched the man’s vehicle and seized a rifle, ammunition and cable ties.
The man was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where he was charged with six offences including ‘armed with intent to commit indictable offence’, ‘common assault’, ‘domestic violence’, ‘stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm’, and ‘use carriage service to threaten to kill’.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today.
