Jewellery chain Michael Hill has closed its Australian stores indefinitely, including its shop at Westfield Penrith.
In a statement, the retailer said it was unable to continue operating due to the current situation surrounding Coronavirus.
“The drop off in trade the company has experienced in Australia also reflects a customer base that is, of course, focused on more immediate issues,” it said.
Staff will be stood down effective immediately, but be given access to leave entitlements.
Michael Hill has 304 stores across Australia, New Zealand and Canada and around 1,600 staff across Australia.
It is understood the Penrith store remains open today but will close at the end of trade.
