Shadow NSW Treasurer Ryan Park joined the Federal Election campaign trail today, meeting with Lindsay’s Labor candidate Emma Husar to discuss much-needed upgrades to Nepean Hospital.
Labor has promised $88 million to Nepean Hospital if it wins Government on Saturday.
State Londonderry MP Prue Car joined Mr Park and Ms Husar at the hospital, along with protesters demanding action for an under pressure Nepean Hospital.
“Mr Park and Ms Car have heard first hand from the hard working doctors, nurses, other hospital staff and concerned community members about the urgent need for a hospital redevelopment,” Ms Husar said.
“A Shorten Labor Government will invest $88 million allowing Stage 4 of the hospital’s redevelopment to begin almost immediately.”
Ms Husar said Nepean Hospital emergency department has some of the longest waiting times in the state.
“Families in western Sydney will benefit from the redevelopment, which will feature a world-class emergency department plus state-of-the-art birthing suites and ante and post-natal care facilities,” Ms Husar said.
“The Stage 4 redevelopment will help address the hospital’s appalling elective surgery waiting lists with new operating theatres, plus a new cancer centre, comprehensive clinical centres and outpatient services.
“Labor recognises western Sydney is growing rapidly, and this is putting a significant demand on existing services and infrastructure across the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.”
