15-year-old Glenmore Park resident Jazmine Alessio is on a mission to conquer the globe – the Teen Face of the Globe Beauty Pageant that is.

Miss Alessio will be representing the west in September at the Australian finals of the UK-based international competition held on the Gold Coast.

Until then, she is raising money for not one, but two not-for-profit organisations, the Rainbow Child Foundation and Epilepsy Action Australia.

The first foundation is nominated by Face of the Globe, and the latter foundation supports a cause that is very close to Jazmine’s heart.

“Raising funds for Epilepsy Action Australia is in memory of my cousin, Monique Tyndall, who passed away on February 29, at only 26-years-old,” she said.

“I can’t really explain how much I miss her it was so unexpected, but she loved Penrith Panthers, she was a big fan.”

If Jazmine wins, 10 per cent of the total funds raised internationally for Face of the Globe goes to her personal charity, in addition to what she raises herself by September.

“On bigger events, funds raised will go to Rainbow Child and on little events I will raise money for epilepsy, but I’m going to try to split it in half so it’s fair,” she said.

“I have a high tea on May 29 at Mulgoa Valley Receptions and on May 7 I have a stall at the markets at Glenmore Park.”

Jazmine’s mother, Gebena Alessio, said as well as raising funds they hope to raise a much-needed awareness for epilepsy.

“It’s about knowing what to do in certain situations, especially if you know someone with epilepsy, and by raising money Epilepsy Action Australia can help others be more aware,” she said.

Local businesses have donated prizes for Jazmine’s raffle, including Gloria Jeans in Glenmore Park, Diamond Dave’s Hair Studio, James Home Services and Rejuvinate Massage.

Glenmore Beauty Salon has been right behind her the whole time to beautify her, and help her win the Australian finals and an all expenses paid trip to London and Paris.
