Penrith residents took up the challenge of walking 6.5 kilometres along the Nepean River with the Anytime Fitness team last weekend in support of Heart Research Australia.
As part of REDFEB, Anytime Fitness organised the event in the hopes of raising much needed funds and awareness for heart disease.
It was the second year in a row the team have taken on the challenge.
St Marys gym Owner, Shane Casey, said it was great to see how many people participated in support of the cause.
“It was an overwhelming turn out,” he told the Weekender.
“At least 200 people attended which was great to see.”
Mr Casey said it was an important cause for the fitness centre as heart disease affects a large portion of society.
“As a fitness centre we want to try and engage with as many communities as we can to impart our knowledge about the importance of physical activity and an improved diet,” he said.
After the success of this year, the team are already looking forward to the next event.
“The community were very appreciative that they were given the opportunity to help out for this important cause,” Mr Casey said.
“The feedback was all very positive and we’re looking forward to next year.”
