Police hunt for man after shopping centre incident

mansouthPolice have released CCTV images following an act of indecency at a South Penrith shopping centre.

About 5.10pm yesterday, a six-year-old boy entered a public bathroom at the Southlands shopping centre on Maxwell Street.

A man also entered the bathroom and allegedly committed an act of indecency.

The boy ran away and alerted his family and the unknown man fled the area.

“Police were alerted to the incident and commenced investigations, including a patrol of the area,” a Police spokesperson said.

“Officers attached to Penrith Police Station are investigating and are appealing for information about the incident.

“In particular, investigators would like to speak to a man depicted in CCTV images.

“He is described as being aged in his 30s or 40s, with olive skin, black hair and a beard. He is further described as being of a large build. He was wearing a black, hooded jumper, black shirt, green cargo shorts and white thongs.”

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to these incidents to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
