Man charged over 2013 crash

A man will face court today after being charged in relation to a fail-to-stop crash at Erskine Park in 2013.

About 3.55am on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, a Toyota Corolla and Mitsubishi Lancer collided on Erskine Park Road.

The Corolla did not stop after the crash. The driver of the Lancer, a now 62-year-old man, was assessed on-site by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital. There, he underwent surgery for a broken pelvis and leg.

Inquiries by police attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit have been ongoing.

Yesterday, police from the Cabramatta Proactive Crime Team arrested a 29-year-old man at a fitness centre in Fairfield.

Crash investigators subsequently charged the 29-year-old with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and failing to stop and assist after a crash.

He was refused bail and will appear before Fairfield Local Court today.
