Police officer punched by teen

A man has now been charged after allegedly assaulting a police officer at South Penrith overnight.

About 2.45am this morning, officers from Penrith Local Area Command spoke to three males and one female who were allegedly standing in the intersection of York Road and Maxwell Street.

It’s alleged one of the males, aged 18, assaulted the 35-year-old male leading senior constable by punching him in the face.

The male officer was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment of a broken nose but has since been released.

The arrested man was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with assault police occasioning actual bodily harm, intimidate police, resist arrest and pedestrian obstruct drivers.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.
