News Local has axed the long-running Tuesday edition of the Penrith Press newspaper.
The final Tuesday edition of the paper was released today, with News Local confirming that the Press will revert to one edition per week from 2016.
“To bring you all the action in the region next year, the Penrith Press will move to a bumper Thursday edition…,” Editor Lisa Power wrote today.
The Press has run two editions a week for decades, with the Tuesday edition once the flagship of the local publication.
In recent months, speculation has mounted that the Press would axe the Tuesday edition. This was all but confirmed when the Press moved its Friday publication to Thursdays a short time ago.
The latest Circulations Audit Bureau figures show the Press has a circulation on Fridays of 48,932. The Western Weekender has a circulation of 59,400 and the Penrith City Gazette has a circulation of 38,601.
The now axed Tuesday edition of the Press has a weekly circulation of 48,912.
